‘BIG 3’ SUPPORTERS’ GET-TOGETHER POSTPONED

MBABANE- For convenience reasons, the third edition of the Big Three (Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers), supporters’ get-together has been postponed to July 13, 2019.

The initial date for the event was July 6, 2019 and the schedule change was due to Highlanders’ dinner which is also billed for the same day. This announcement was made by Mbabane Swallows supporters’ organising committee member, Knowledge Ngwenya. The big three get-together is hosted by the teams rotationally and the next hosts on the list is Swallows.

“The Big Three organising committee equally respects all teams and as we have been informed that Highlanders will host its dinner on July 6, we have shifted the get-together to July 13 in order to accommodate all its members,” said Ngwenya.

Unity

The concept behind the supporters’ get together, according to one of the organising committee members, Phephile Mweli, was to eliminate the division between the different teams and supporters but instead promote unity.

 “Our plan is to host these gatherings once a month. We want to create the bond and oneness between clubs and supporters. This will also help in eradicating violence incidences during matches.

A game is only a clash for 90 minutes and as expected, there will only be one winner. We hope that these get-together events will one day result in supports being able to share grandstands without any form of rowdiness or violence,” said Mweli.

The venue of the event still stands at Mbabane, Selection Park opposite Alli
