MBABANE – The wait continues. While other promoted regional teams are preparing for life in the National First Division, the crowning of the Shiselweni Region’s champions has been deferred.

The decider in the two-legged play-offs between Young Movers and Shooting Stars was supposed to be played at the King Sobhuza Stadium in Nhlangano yesterday, but it was eventually deferred due to unforeseen circumstances.

The former were leading by 2-0 from the first leg. The second leg to be hosted by Movers was supposed to be played at the same place, which is considered a neutral venue.

However, the hosts, it was reliably gathered, petitioned the Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA) days before the game. In the letter, they reportedly wanted the game to be shifted to their home ground, which is styled Nkumbane outside Hlatikulu. In reaction to the letter, a meeting was convened by the relevant parties and decision to put the game on ice was allegedly taken.

confirmed

SRFA Secretary Jabulani Dlamini had referred comments to Chairman Mlimi Mamba when sought for comment on the matter. The latter confirmed that there was an issue surrounding the game following a letter by Movers, but assured the impasse was resolved.
“The return match will be played at King Sobhuza next Saturday (June 15),” he said.

Meanwhile, all the other three regions in the country have produced teams to represent them in the country’s football second-tier. Umbelebele, Illovo and Ludzeludze Killers are champions from Hhohho, Lubombo and Manzini, in that order. They are already armed with tickets to the National First Division.
