SECURITY FORCES CASE: DAY ONE!

My dearest readers ...

Bailiff! All rise, the highest court in the land will now hear the case number: 03/06/2019, at Court A, the State versus security forces teams (Green Mamba, Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes) with Honourable Judge Lwazi Knowledge Manqoba Dlamini presiding. PROSECUTOR (Lenhle Nhlane): Your Honour, the three accused security forces teams duly represented by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Board of Governors members, Vusi Kunene from Green Mamba, the newly crowned MTN league champions; Meshack Ntshalintshali from Royal Leopard, losing finalists of the EswatiniBank Cup and ‘deputy’ champions of the MTN league and Vusimango Dlamini from Young Buffaloes, double champions, who won both Ingwenyama Cup and EswatiniBank Cup, raking in total E2.7 million in prize monies.

You can call them ‘Amathole Ezinyathi’, the ‘money devils’ of the 2018/19 season, Your Honour. All three teams, Your Honour, have been charged for having an unfair advantage over the civilian teams in the sense that they do not have overheads. Transport is funded by government, paid for using tax-payer’s money. Secondly, they have been charged for offering government employment as a ‘carrot’ to lure top players from other teams into their camps and taking them for free. Thirdly, they have been charged for employing under-hand tactics of refusing loaned players/coaches to play against them in the respective fixtures in clear contravention of the spirit of Fair Play, which is FIFA’s doctrine, either by ensuring they are committed at their ‘work station’ on the day of the respective fixture, or watching from the sidelines.

Fourthly, the security forces teams have been charged for contributing to the stunted growth of the national team, Sihlangu Semnikati, who once again, were knocked out in the early stages of the sub-continental tournament, COSAFA, last week despite all the promises of ‘bringing it home’. This, Your Honour, has caused a lot of unhappiness and anarchy from the civilian teams who feel the security forces teams should form their own league, like it happens with other major leagues in the world, and not participate in the main-stream league.
My Lord, the civilians are ganging up behind the scenes and have put pressure on the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), who in their infinite wisdom have since come up with a Task team to look into the issue.
