MBABANE – Hub giants Manzini Wanderers are set to make a couple of major signings ahead of the 2019/20 season, if a leaked wish list is anything to go by.

The Times Sports Desk has reliably gathered that the Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati-led technical bench’s wish list is headlined by Mbabane Highlanders trio of grafter Vusumuzi Zungu, marksman Thabiso Mokenkoane and left-footed midfielder Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule. Others are Mbabane Swallows duo of star midfielders Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu and Sizolwethu Shabalala.  Moneni Pirates captain Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane and relegated Vovovo skilful midfielder Leon Manyisa, are reportedly among the targets.

The list has also been circulated on Wanderers’ online media platforms.

The Sports Desk has also reliably gathered ‘Koki’s wish would be granted because he has made it clear that he wants to win trophies this season.
When reached on the wish list, Manzini Wanderers coach, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati did not deny the wish list but pointed that he would rather not mention names, as the players in question belonged to teams. “It would be very unprofessional of me to mention names. What I can confirm is that I will be offloading and bolstering the squad with championship-winning material. I want to highlight this though, we want players that will not play for top four but players who will compete,” Vilakati said.
He went on to thank the players who ensured the team was not relegated last season.

“I had to work with what I had because I joined the team midway into the season. The players that were available did a wonderful job and we avoided relegation. With that said, we won’t be fighting for relegation next season but we will be competing for honours,” the former Mbabane Swallows coach said.
He said he wanted to build the team.

“Well, I know it won’t be easy rebuilding the team but I am very positive with quality players we can have a very good season,” he said.
Meanwhile, Manzini Wanderers Director Mehluli Nhlengetfwa disclosed that the team would announce major signings soon.

“The team will announce new signings. We are looking at strengthening the squad. We will also announce a new management committee,” Nhlengetfwa said.
Mbabane Swallows PRO Jackson Dlamini said the team would meet tomorrow but the said players are still theirs.

Some of the players who are heavily linked with the side have their contracts expiring between this month and July. In separate interviews, some of the players confirmed the interest on condition of anonymity.
Teams across the globe usually invade the market in June when most players’ contracts run out. It is a challenging period for some, as they have to tighten their grip on their stars.

Efforts to get comments from Mbabane Highlanders CEO Thulani Khumalo were futile as his mobile phone rang unanswered when called several times yesterday.
