MBABANE – From Burundi with love! That is local elite side Malanti Chiefs international midfielder Pappy Faty.

Fresh from his country’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cup 2019 group match qualifier, where they won 1-0 against Botswana’s Zebras to seal qualification to the finals, he returned to the country to bring smiles to children aged between 10 and 15 years at Nkomazi community, towards Pigg’s Peak.

Faty, who also contributed to Malanti’s quarter-final finish in the EswatiniBank Cup, hosted a schools soccer tournament for both primary and high schools around the area last Saturday at the Nkomazi Community Sports Ground.

“The donation took place last Tuesday as Pappy donated to 20 less privileged children at St. Paul’s Primary School selected by the teachers along with the school’s committee which was present on the day,” said a community member and former Malanti player Msutfu Dlamini who assisted the Burundian star with organising the tournament and the donation event.

Dlamini said the player was touched to see school children in the community struggling and he set the goal to organise something for them and received assistance from the teachers and community through the school committee.
He also confirmed that he donated school uniforms.

Pappy also confirmed the donation and tournament which also included his team playing against a community pick team which they beat 3-1.
“It’s always good to give a helping hand to the less privileged especially children under the age 15. I also had a one day tournament hosted at Nkomazi Sports Ground.

“I did it all for the love of the community,” he said, as his donation of school uniform including shoes, shirts, trousers, and t-shirts among other things was estimated to be slightly worth more than E5 000.

He said the schools involved were St. Paul’s Primary who played against Fundukuwela High’s Form Ones, a match won by the latter with a 3-2 margin. The high school’s senior team went on to play a Nkomazi Social Team and won 2-1.

Pappy expressed his love for the community that has also supported him since joining Malanti Chiefs and was grateful to the schools, community members, elders of the community including the Member of Parliament Zakhele Magongoi and his club for the support they gave him to make this a reality.
