MBABANE – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Zombodze Emuva constituency Muzi Kunene is a striker for National First Division side, Rangers FC.

The legislator formed part of the team that played against Tinyosi FC on Sunday afternoon at Somhlolo National Stadium during their MTN National First Division fixture.

However, Kunene did not get game time on the day as he was on the bench with other substitutes despite doing a few warm-up exercises with the rest of the benched players in readiness to come in.

The MP’s team lost 1-2 to the second placed team of the second tier log.
In an interview after the match, the legislator said he was part of Rangers’ players even before he was voted into the august house in last year’s elections.
“I will play football as long as I am fit to do so and will stop playing once I feel otherwise,” said the legislator.

Asked on how he balanced his duties of the electorate and his football career, the MP was quick to point out that the voters’ needs were his utmost priority.
“As a voted member of parliament, it is important to prioritise, the work for which I was elected to do in Parliament comes first. I must serve the needs of the electorate first and football can follow,” said Kunene.

He praised the Nhlangano-based outfit and said it was a very good side.
“Rangers is a very good team, it’s only that we missed a number of good chances to score today (Sunday),” he said.
