MBABANE – It seems seasoned runner Nkululeko Gama cannot resist the temptation to partake in the Mbabane Parkrun.

After announcing his retirement from the race to focus on coaching, the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) announced his return in style after winning the 91st edition of the 5km-timed run at Mbabane Club yesterday. He clocked 16:08 minutes to outpace 83 other fun run enthusiasts. It was his 34th run.

Simphiwe Gama, who was 22nd overall, was the fastest lady, thanks to her golden time of 26:48:00 minutes. She was the only lady enduring the course inside 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, visiting Andrew Ogierman was one of the newcomers and he celebrated his 202nd parkrun in Mbabane. He reached the winning point after 39:27:00 minutes.
The likes of Patrick Mkhonta and Adrian De Koning are getting closer to celebrating a half century of parkruns. They have participated 45 and 46 times, respectively.

Second-placed Lindokuhle Mdluli, Atsushi Maruyamazethu Bhembe, Alemayehu Wolde, Sebenzile Zwane, and Fitzgerald Graham celebrated personal bests on the day.
Once again, the weekly run/walk, which starts at Mbabane Club at 8am, led the runners to the trails of the nearby golf course.

Participation is free. Would-be participants are only required to register by logging onto www.parkrun.co.za.
