MBABANE – A disturbing audio clip threatening Manzini Wanderers coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati is circulating on social media, especially WhatsApp.

An audio purportedly shared among members of a WhatsApp group is insinuating that Vilakati is helping Young Buffaloes, who face Mbabane Swallows in an Ingwenyama Cup semi-final tomorrow. “We need someone brave to confront ‘Koki’ Vilakati because he is busy moving up and down with Buffaloes. As we speak, he is said to be with Buffaloes in camp. “We need to get someone to call him, because I can lose it because I’m short-tempered. I can share his number to someone who can be able to call him,” said the unidentified person in the clip.

“Nangabe atowenta kanjena sitomfikela simgilise tija,” bellowed the unidentified man in vernacular, while reportedly addressing the group members. Loosely translated, this simply means they are ready to deal with the coach in reaction to the developments.
Vilakati said he learnt with shock about the threats and reported them to both the Manzini police and Swallows superiors.

“The voice in the clip is not familiar, but the conduct is for a shallow-minded person. I’ve been at work for the better part of the week,” he said.
Vilakati felt the threats were unfortunate, as he never resigned at Swallows, but was sidelined and he never looked back after parting ways the team.
Wanderers PRO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini also reacted angrily to the clip.

“We say hands off to our coach. The people spreading these baseless accusations are ruining our good relationship with Swallows. They should provide proof of what they are saying because the coach has always been with us, training the team. He has a reputation to protect and we have escorted him to the Manzini police to report the matter because we want the culprit to be identified,” said Dlamini.
Dlamini said they were condemning the behaviour of the fan because it could cause unnecessary uproar, but assured it would do little to ruin their good relationship with Swallows.

accusations

Swallows PRO Jackson Dlamini said they also did know the person behind the unfounded accusations, saying the team was disassociating themselves with the reports.
“Our focus is on Sunday’s game.
“People should stop spreading unfounded accusations,” he said.

Buffaloes PRO Thando ‘Va’ Nxumalo said he also heard the clip, but also did not want to entertain the rumours.
“We have our own coach Dominic Kunene and we trust him. We have no to reason to ask for assistance,” said Nxumalo.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that the matter was reported, but said no arrests had been made by by last night.
