Mbabane – All roads lead to Somhlolo National Stadium tonight, as Mbabane Highlanders and Vovovo hope to fill the remaining Ingwenyama Cup quarter-final spot.

The sides’ game was abandoned last Saturday at Mhlume, following a faulty lighting system and both goalkeepers had been untroubled when the call to stop proceedings was made in the second half. Pressure is on giants Highlanders, as they ‘buckle up’ for another feisty and tricky showdown with the ‘giant slayers’. In all their three meetings in all competitions, Vovovo have lost only the league second round meeting last season.

Showdown

This season’s league showdown ended in 1-all draw, while Vovovo caused an upset with a 2-1 win in their first meeting on the big stage last year. The two sides have failed to go beyond the quarter-finals since the launch of the tournament back in 2015. In the past year, Vovovo and Highlanders were eliminated by Young Buffaloes and Milling Hotspurs, respectively, with 0-1 scores in the Last 16.

The sides come into this edition of the tournament with renewed vigour, after assembling formidable squads. Hopes for Vovovo are on the likes of marksman Mancoba Mavimbela and the duo of Mcolisi Tsabedze, as well as the hard-tackling Bheki ‘Djemba’ Dlamini. The likes of Vusimuzi Zungu, Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze, Thabiso Mokenkoane and Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule can ensure the pendulum swings in Highlanders’ favour. The team that will put their best foot forward will have the last laugh.
