MBABANE – Most teams will be forced to parade depleted squads in the Ingwenyama Cup Last 16. While Young Buffaloes will be minus lanky marksman Phiwa Dlamini against Tambuti, Mbabane Swallows will be without grafter Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze during a trip to Nhlangano to face second-tier football side Rangers. The duo is among 13 National First Division and Premier League players who are ineligible to feature in the Last 16 after accumulating three yellow cards. The cards have been collected in the league, but the next match is the Ingwenyama Cup to be played between January 5 and 6.

According to Article 9.2 of the Ingwenyama Cup Rules and Regulations, cards accumulated in the other tournaments have a bearing on the prestigious tournament.
Premier League of Eswatini CEO Simanga Nhleko, who is also Ingwenyama Cup Management Committee Secretary, released the list of the suspended players. Only Mavi Mamba of National First Division side City Warriors will serve his one-match ban in the league following his team’s elimination in the cup.

Moneni Pirates, who face Matsapha United, have been dealt a huge blow, as they will be without the on-form duo of skipper Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane and winger Lwazi ‘Shumi’ Mamba.
Other affected teams include Royal Leopard and Manzini Wanderers, who face off in the ‘match of the round.’ Trusted Wanderers defender Sihle Mkhonta is out of the game.
Meanwhile, Thembumenzi Mayisela of Malanti Chiefs and Bheki ‘Djemba’ Dlamini from Vovovo will serve a two-match ban, as they are ‘repeat offenders’.
