MBABANE – Their goals’ drought will soon be a thing of the past – at least that is what stuttering Mbabane Swallows hope for, come January.

The red and white Umkhonto KaShaka are set to unleash AS Vita striker Lilelepo Makabi Glody for the MTN Premier League second round, Ingwenyama Cup if they progress to Last 8 and Eswatini Bank Cup. The window period will be opened on January 7 until February 1 and Swallows expect to register the striker.

“AS Vita have a lasting relationship with Mbabane Swallows as you know even Felix Badenhorst played there from us and returned without any trouble. They have seen it fit to loan us their striker, of which we are grateful for,” said the club’s General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane before referring further questions to their PRO Jackson Dlamini.

Dlamini, when reached said he was already in the country and training with the team, only they did not have a session yesterday.
“We will sign him in January when the window opens. The club is working on bringing in a few quality players who will add value to the team we already have and the AS Vita striker is one of those,” he said.

He said they had missed free-scoring striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa through a long injury sustained in last year’s Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup and kept him out to date. He said news of his return to training were heart-warming to any Swallows’ supporter and they can expect to see him playing as of next month as match fitness was currently the concern.

He did not feature against Manzini Sundowns on Wednesday night when some fans had expected to see him, instead his colleague Sandile Hlatshwayo was the man upfront and ended up being accused of missing a lot of goals by the club’s fans. Swallows lost 1-0.

“With Sikhali returning and then the AS Vita striker also looking good, we will be able to score more goals going forward,” he said.
He also appealed to their supporters and every football supporter to ensure that they all crammed the Somhlolo National Stadium, Lobamba on Sunday for the Ingwenyama Cup grand opening.

The tournament kicks off tonight with a double-header at Lobamba.
No immediate comment could be obtained from the AS Vita man. His club had first signed Green Mamba’s winger Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo from Royal Leopard before he returned at the end of last season.
