MBABANE – Seeing is believing.

Eswatini Under-17 national side defied the odds to storm into their first ever semi-final of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Games Gaborone, Botswana yesterday. In front of a disbelieving crowd of close to 2 000 fans, the Velekhaya Mthethwa-led team served thin slices of humble pie to their opponents before beating them 1-0 to qualify for the semis. Following yesterday’s win, Eswatini has now accumulated an unassailable six points on top of their group. They top the group and will now play their last game against host country Botswana for formality.

The group consists of Namibia, Zambia, Eswatini and Botswana. Scoring the all too important goal for the country was speedy striker Nhlanhla Makwakwa. He finished superbly just inside the box after some delightful exchange of passes. In all honesty, the local boys were full value of their win and thoroughly deserved the victory.
