DAR ES SALAAM – For Mbabane Swallows off-form goalkeeper, Sandanezwe Mathabela, it was a case of another match, more gnashing of teeth.
A promising career from the days of Manzini Sundowns is turning into the nightmare in real life in between the poles for both club and country for the lanky shot-stopper who has conceded about eight comical goals in this calendar year.

On Wednesday,  two goalkeeping howlers, even by his own low standards, were comical at best and horrendous at worst.
The first, a late tackle on marauding Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi led to the Simba’s second goal, a penalty coolly converted by brace hero John Bocco and the second one - his worst ever – was when he fumbled a Richard Mcreesh back pass which allowed a lurking by Meddie Kagere to slot home his easiest goal of his career.
Mathabela’s howlers, undermined a superb team effort from the travelling Mbabane Swallows, who looked to have settled well into the game after finding the equaliser from the boot of defender, Guevane Nzambe, who scored a goal from the top drawer.

With the 4-1 scoreline now looking as insurmountable as climbing Mountain Kilimanjaro here in Tanzania on a wheelchair, Swallows would have to re-double their efforts if they harbour hopes of playing either Nkana FC of Zambia or Mozambique’s Uniao Desportiva do Songo in the next round.
Two days ago, Swallows dug their own grave. This is how the players rated out of 10.
