MHLUME – Nimble-footed striker Mfan’fikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze’s  late strike saved  Manzini Wanderers from  the jaws of defeat at daring Mbabane Citizens.

Fash’s goal  ensured the ‘Weslians’ breathed a sigh of relief, as they held Citizens to a 1-all at Mhlume Stadium yesterday before a crowd of over 500 fans.
The draw was not a good result for both sides in as far as the log standing is concerned.

The maroon and white ensemble are still stuck on the 10th spot while Citizens are two places below Wanderers with nine points. Both teams should be worried with two games to spare before the first round of games finish.

The home side, who have avoided defeat against all the big guns with stalemates, started brightly and they eventually broke the deadlock in the 28 minutes through trusted midfielder Mancoba Vilakati, who converted from the penalty spot. This is after Menzi Gamedze handled the ball inside the danger zone and referee Mbongiseni Fakudze did not hesitate but pointed to the spot.Vilakati sent  Romanus Ugonna to the wrong direction to make it 1-0 for the Humphrey Mlwane-led charges. The game went into the breather with the hosts leading 1-0.

After resumption the visitors seemed to have woken up from their slumber as they started piling more pressure to the opponents. However, a freekick by Sicelo ‘Junior’ Mazibuko yielded no results after Lwazi ‘Shana’ Maziya was upended at the edge of the box by defender Sizwe Khumalo in the 55th minute.

Mike Dombo in the left flank was not as effective as he used to be and ‘Shana’ was closed down and could not win the high balls like he usually does.Fash in the 75th minute thought he had scored but he volleyed over the bar by inches .He had received a  pass from Shana.

However, with just seven minutes to go, Fash eventually netted from close range from Junior’s freekick. He finished from close range to make it 1-1.Assistant linesman was almost beaten by angry Wanderers fans after they accused him of making unfair decisions before the final whistle.
