MBABANE – It took just 16:30 minutes to have a champion in yesterday’s well-attended Mbabane Parkrun.

Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force’s (UEDF) Sikhumbuzo Sihlongonyane was the overall winner after clocking in earlier than the over 80 participants who participated in the weekly-timed 5km run from Mbabane Club to the Golf Course and back.

This was the 80th edition of the run, which is hugely dominated by Sihlongonyane’s colleague Nkululeko Gama. At least 89 participants took their time and finished the race, most of them inside 20 minutes.

Coming third was Lindokuhle Mdluli, who clocked in at 17:59 minutes. On second was Nkosinathi Zwane who clocked 17:05minutes. Interestingly, Zwane and Mdluli were first timers in this fun run. The women category was won by Gcinile Magongo on time 28:19 minutes. Meanwhile, the park run is an event that attracts all types of people, young and old and has started to also catch the eye of athletics clubs, as well as tourists.
