MBABANE - The Swaziland Equestrian Federation (SEF) hosted a very successful graded show jumping event on November 4, 2018.

The show followed the FEI Equestrian Sports Educative, which was held at Swazi Lizkhar Sports Horses and adjudicated by international experts Dominey Alexander and Cord Cordes.

SEF Secretary General Sue Elsey said the Eswatini  equestrian athletes had been hard at work all year-round and it was very exciting to see a number of athletes progress up to a higher grade and compete very successfully in that level.

“The international experts were very impressed with the standard of riding, coaching and course building on show over the weekend. The classes that the athletes entered were a Two Phase Competition and a Speed Class. Two Phase sees focus on accuracy for the first eight obstacles with numbers 9-12 being timed,” she said.

Accuracy

Elsey highlighted that these tested precision, speed and accuracy. The Speed Class is one round on speed and is always a popular exciting class for spectators.
Glenda Warburton was the judge for the day, with Lesley Bretton Smith, Philippa Thorne and Justine Martin assisting as officials in the Judges box. The course was designed by ESEE participants under the guidance of International Course Builder, Cordes. The event was organised by the SEF show Jumping Committee and Elsey, the federation’s Secretary General.

“SEF would like to thank all those who assisted in making this event a huge success and special mention must go to the parents and families of all the athletes who cheer everyone on from the side-lines, transport the horses and assist wherever possible,” she said.

The federation will this weekend host the FEI World Dressage Challenge and SEF National Dressage Championship Final leg.
