MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe has spilled the beans.

The coach has revealed the main reason why his team’s performance has been poor of late during a pre-match press briefing at Sigwaca House yesterday.
According to the mentor, players do not attend morning training sessions despite having tried a number of times to encourage them to do so.
“A few do attend the morning training sessions despite that a large number is unemployed and can attend,” Hlophe said.

He added that supporters should find a way to motivate players to attend the training sessions.
“Morning training sessions are as important as the afternoon sessions in order to do repetitions to master techniques,” he said.
Hlophe highlighted that commitment was needed from the players as well as the supporters.

The coach said unity was key for all stakeholders to address the team’s challenges and mentioned the players’ failure to attend training as an obstacle he should overcome.

Coming to their game against Moneni Pirates this afternoon at Mavuso Sports Centre, the coach said they tried to fix their finishing during this week’s training sessions.
However, he highlighted that they had a challenge finding the right combination for a solid defence.
The team’s assistant captain, Menzi Gamedze, said they tried motivating teammates to attend morning training sessions but some say they were held up.
“It is then difficult for the coach to select players who do not attend training,” he said.

He further urged supporters to be patient with the coach as he had confidence in him to fix the team’s problems.
Moneni Pirates coach Terisayi Changara said they needed all three points against Wanderers and have prepared for the game.

“We want a win but football is football, anything can happen. The team is doing well in all departments, we just need a finisher,” he said.
Pirates captain Menzi Simelane said playing against a big team like Wanderers was a motivation for the team.
He said players were hungry for the game as the spirit was high and selection would be tough for the coach.
