MBABANE– The stage is set for judokas who will grade from the white to yellow belt on Saturday at Swaziland Theatre Club in Mbabane.

The junior belt grading will be followed by that of artists from yellow belt to brown belt on November 10 at the same venue. Swaziland Judo Federation (SJF) Secretary Tertius Esterhuysen said over 150 judokas from about five schools and clubs were expected to grade from both events.

“Registration will start at 8am and the grading will begin at 9:30am sharp as we want to have finished by 2pm. We urge the judokas to be punctual and also come wearing the full regalia worn under the sports,” he said.

Esterhuysen said grading was held annually and if artists failed to make it on Saturday and November 10 they will have to wait for next year. First-timers grade from white and the last before black is brown belt. Some of the schools expected to attend the grading include Usutu Forest, Little School, Premier, Montessori and Theater Club, among others. “Parents are invited to come and support the judokas and it will be a big day for them. We are hopeful that they will also come in their numbers for the second grading billed for November 10,” he said.

Judo is among the sports that are striving for excellency as they have hoisted the country flag a number of times in international tournaments.
