MANZINI – The battle for relegation goes on. Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation (RSSC) Tridents recorded a much needed victory against Mbabane Knicks. The elite league (EML) rookies won 86-72 in a tightly contested encounter that was played at Mavuso Sports Emporium yesterday.

The positive result somehow eased the relegation pressure with just two games to go. Before the weekend games, Tridents were languishing at the bottom of the log with only 12 points while Knicks were one place above the sugar belt side with 14 points.

The official updated log would be availed to all teams tomorrow. Titans and Raptors are also in danger as they both lost their weekend games to Imbumbe and Manzini Steels respectively.

In other interesting results, defending champions Mbabane Jazz on Saturday went down to Manzini Superstars. They lost 63-69 while in the in the National Women League, Shooting Stars hammered Enjabulweni Griffins 110-33 while Lady Jazz lost 32-55 to Super Ladies.
What the captain had to say:

Celumusa Dlamini-Mbabane Knicks
Despite losing today we still believe we can still evade relegation. We still have to play Jazz and Imbumbe in our last two games.”
Charles Mkhabela-R.S.S.C Tridents

“This win means a lot to us and it’s about giving the young boys to enjoy the sport. We do have chances of retaining the EML status. Our two remaining games are Mbabane Raptors and Manzini Steels. They are tough opponents but we believe we can beat them and survive relegation.”
