LATE PLE’S NOMALUNGELO HAD JUST BEEN PROMOTED

EDLOZINI – More sad news was delivered during the vigil and funeral of Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) employee Nomalungelo Gama at her parental home in Edlozini yesterday.

Speaking on behalf of the organisation during the vigil, PLE Executive Member, Sicelo Mkhonta, announced that Gama had just been promoted but death deterred her from assuming her new role. Mkhonta sent the PLE’s condolences to Gama’s family and friends. “We are sorry for the family, her friends, her children and the entire football fraternity,” said Mkhonta. The executive member highlighted that they had worked with Gama for a while.

This is after he had explained that Gama approached the organisation and applied for employment – learning on the job, to be precise. “She asked that we teach her the job and we gave her the chance. After being with her, we learned that she had an extra-ordinary character evidently shaped by growing at a home that instills good morals and church principles,” he said. Mkhonta also mentioned that it was clear to PLE management that Gama was gifted and would be a great asset for the organisation and consequently offered her a full time job.

“The PLE has lost a great employee.we had just promoted her to a new position for which she did not even have academic qualifications,” said Mkhonta. He said the promotion was given to her due to the fact that they spotted talent in her immediately after she joined the organisation. “It is sad that she could not assume her new position’s duties after returning from hospital as she is dead,” Mkhonta said. He said they were truly hurt bythe loss and he prayed that God protect Gama’s children.
Tremendous support was shown by Gama’s colleagues as they showed up to the vigil and funeral in numbers.
