SA CELEBRITY RUNNERS FOR IMBUBE MARATHON

MBABANE – The Imbube Marathon third edition will be bigger and better.


This comes after the confirmation that the 42km will have a pacesetter in South Africa’s well-known runner Thabile ‘Comrades’ Mama’ Mathe. The Imbube Marathon is billed for Sunday, starting and finishing at Somhlolo National Stadium where over 3 00 runners are expected to cascade.


Swaziland National Pension Fund (SNPF) Marketing Officer Mlungisi Dlamini confirmed yesterday that Mathe would be part of the biggest marathon in the country.
Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force (UEDF) athlete Sifiso Sibandze have defied all odds and won the last two editions cashing in E100 000 in two years. The winner will take home E25 000 and there is the same amount for the first LiSwati to cross the finish line.


This year’s edition will be attended by athletes coming from overseas countries. Some who have registered are coming from the United States of America and Europe, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia among others.


Another celebrity runner in Stuart S Mann is also expected to join in the runners during the race. He is the writer for Modern Athlete Magazine and also writes for Sports24.co.za and his blog is www.running.mann.com


Meanwhile, the pack bags will be collected from today to Saturday at Happy Valley, Ezulwini starting at 10am to 5pm for the three consecutive days.
Dlamini urged all those who registered for the race to make sure that they do collect their pack bags.
