MBABANE – It’s game on as bitter rivals Mbabane Swallows and Young Buffaloes face off tonight.

Swallows are unbeaten defending champions for two consecutive seasons, while Buffaloes were their runners-up last season.
In their pre-match media conference yesterday afternoon at Sigwaca House, Buffaloes did not turn up and this did not go down well with Swallows coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, who came with his captain Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze.

“It’s sad because I had expected our rivals would be here so we also get to know about their preparations. I don’t see them here and it’s not fair as we’re all expected to respect these conferences. Let’s put things of the past in the past and market our games.

“Anyway, coming to our preparations, we’ve put the derby result behind us and going into this one, we have no injuries as even Sandile is a matter of the technical bench deciding whether to use him or not. The only injuries to me are Simanga and Palma, as they’re in plasta,” he said while thanking the PLE for the initiative to have the clubs market the games in this fashion.
Vilakati said tonight’s game had a jinx that needed to be broken.

“The jinx is that we played them last season and it was all draws of 1-1. That is the jinx we need to break, especially because they now think they’re at par with us. We have the formula to break this jinx,” he said.

His captain, Tsabedze reiterated his words by saying that it was important for them to keep winning their games.
“I’m not saying this because I undermine them but winning is always what we play for. We always know we need the three points. I must encourage our supporters to once again come rally behind us,” he said.

He also thanked all the supporters who came to Somhlolo National Stadium last Sunday for the grand opening games. No immediate comment could be obtained from Buffaloes.
