MBABANE – The country’s six juniors will play in the Play Match Weekend tennis tournament in Nelspruit, South Africa.

The players are Thando Bhembe, Hayden Loffler, Sakhile Hlophe, Uviwe Vilakati, Luching Sorokharbham and Nonqaba Mkhaliphi.
Eswatini National Tennis Association (ENTA) President Maxwell Jele confirmed yesterday that they would be sending the players to participate in the Match Play Weekend event in Nelspruit this weekend:

“These juniors are part of the national junior tennis squad, and the objective for our participation is to expose our elite juniors to international competition. This is part of our Vision 2022, which is geared towards excellence and effective participation at international level.

‘‘Our ultimate goal is to develop a squad that can represent the country at Davis Cup level in the next 3-4 years and to also identify juniors that can be eligible for tennis college sponsorship overseas in the next 3-4 years,” he said.

The players will not be going to Nelspruit for the first time as already the trio of Nonqaba Mkhaliphi, Luching Sorokhaibham and Hayden Loffler have already left a mark in the Mpumalanga tennis junior’s tournament.
