MBABANE – Sihlangu’s most successful local coach Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga has availed himself for the hot seat again.

As the search for the new national team coach intensifies, the reputable gaffer, who steered the side to a bronze medal in the COSAFA Cup in 2016, is said to have thrown his name in the hat ahead of today’s deadline for applications.  His contract was not renewed in 2016, a move that caused an uproar even in Parliament.

Bulunga, who is currently in charge of Moneni Pirates, joins a swelling list of top coaches who have applied for the post. They include former Orlando Pirates coach Kostadin Papic from Serbia and Ex-New Zealand gaffer Lloyd Ricki Herbet, who led the New Zealanders during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Bulunga was diplomatic in his response when sought for comment yesterday.
“I think it is proper to wait for FA to confirm the applicants.
“But all I can say is I meet all the requirements for the job,” was all he could say.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has kept the list of the applicants secret. The candidates will be shortlisted in the next few days. A 10-year coaching experience at a higher level as well as CAF A Licence, are some of the minimum requirements for the job.
EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said his office was yet to get the list of the applicants from CEO Frederick Mngomezulu.
