BLOW BY BLOW AT KID MAMBA BOXING TOURNEY

MBABANE – Kid Mamba boxing club broke all codes as they hosted one of the biggest boxing tournaments recently with 26 bouts.


The tournament that attracted about 70 boxers was held on Saturday at Mater Dolorosa High School hall where over 100 people attended. Kid Mamba hosted the tournament as part of the club’s revival.


Some of the interesting bouts included the country’s Commonwealth Games squad member Thabiso Dlamini, who defeated Zweli Kunene of Kid Mamba. Another bout that stole the show was between Zweli Dlamini of Matsapha boxing club up against Muntu Simelane from Ingwe. Zweli Dlamini, who was also part of the Commonwealth Game squad, won the bout.


For the young stars or juniors, Kid Mamba Callum Mathews got the better of Wakhile Mndzebele for Matsapha as he defeated him.
Sifiso Dlamini of Tabankulu stole the show as he defeated Njabulo Mndzebele for New Boys in less than 30 seconds making the bout the shortest.


Some of the clubs present included Zebra Force, Matsapha, Simunye, Tabankulu, Ubombo, Kid Mamba, New Boys, Correctional, Ingwe and Mhlume. The boxers were provided with breakfast packs after weigh in and this went down well with the pugilists.
The winners on the day were presented with their gold medals, runners up with silver medals.
