MBABANE - Guilty as charged! Manzini Wanderers were yesterday found guilty of misconduct.

Wanderers fans threw beer cans in the direction of an assistant referee in protest after the referee; Leticia Vienna waved play on when winger, Mike Dombo looked to have been fouled inside the box mid-way through the first half of the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup match against Mbabane Highlanders two weeks ago at Somhlolo National Stadium.

The club was charged for contravening Article 11.2 of the Eswatini Charity Cup rules and regulations.
Article 11.2 stipulates that “Every club shall ensure that none of its members, players, officials, supporters or fans engages in any form of unsporting behavior. Unsporting behavior shall include among others, throwing missiles of any kind onto the pitch, after or while a match is in progress, assaulting or attempting to assault or threatening the officials, members or supporters of opposing club, members of the public or anyone regardless of which team he/she follows, etc.”
Article 11.3 continues “A club which contravenes the above rule shall be subject to disciplinary hearing, and if found guilty it shall be liable to a fine not less than E15 000. In addition to the fine aforementioned, the MC may pass summary judgment for the convicted club to compensate an official who suffered financial loss as a result of misconduct by a club or its fan/s supporters while on official duty.”

Premier League of Eswatini, COO who also doubled as the MC Secretary of the Charity Cup, Pat Vilakati confirmed that Wanderers have been found guilty.
“As earlier reported they were found guilty as charged and they have been fined a sum of E15 000,” Vilakati said.
Meanwhile, Wanderers’ CEO Pat Mahlalela was unavailable for comment as his mobile phone rang unanswered when called several times last night.
