MBABANE - Ntfonjeni High Schools are through to the semi-finals of the Copa Coca Cola SSSA Soccer Tournament.

This is after they beat Madlangempisi 7-6 in penalties in the Hhohho Branch finals at Prince of Wales Sports Ground yesterday. The score was 3-3 in full time. Ntfonjeni could have won the game easily but their feet got heavier especially in the last stanza. The game went into a breather with Nftonjeni leading 3-1.Thanks to brace-hero, Nkosingiphile Dlamini, who netted in the first 10 minutes and later added another two minutes before halftime. Bonginkhosi Msibi also registered his name on the scorers chart in the 29th minute.

Madlangempisi had scored via the boot of Mthobisi Magagula in the 19 minutes and further made it 2-3 in the 78th minute. Just when the over 100 youthful football lovers thought it was all over, Thabiso Magagula’s long strike from outside the box ensured the tightly contested match went into the lottery penalty shoot-out. It was just four minutes before full time. In the penalty shoot-out, Ntfonjeni High’s Given Lukhele, who plays for Vultures in the Swazi Trac Northern Hhohho Super League, scored the winner after Njabulo Nxumalo missed the last penalty. Lukhele said he was happy to score the winner and was looking forward to the semi-finals.

“We started off brightly but we got tired in the second half as we had played earlier on. It was tough and we had to defend in numbers to ensure they do not score the fourth goal. We are positive that we will win the tournament,” Lukhele said.
