LOBAMBA – Two first half goals from recruits Sihle Ndaba and Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze were enough to send Mbabane Highlanders to the finals of the Eswatini Telecom Charity Cup.

The capital city giants proved they wanted it more as they scored their opener in just two minutes.
Ndaba volleyed the ball into an empty net after Wanderes’ Skhanyiso Shabangu tried to clear a Mthobisi Mngomezulu strike.
Enterprising striker, Mike Dombo thought he earned his side a penalty when he was fouled inside the box 13 minutes into the game but referee, Leticia Viana waved play-on.

equaliser

Just when the Weslians were in search of the equaliser, former Matsapha United left back Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze made it 2-0 for the black and white ensemble.
He took defenders on a solo run in the left flank before unleashing a powerful ground shot that beat Wanderers goalkeeper, Romans Igidimba, across the poles in the 24th minute. The better part of the first half was punctuated with stops which were a result of fouls.
The game went into the breather with Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane’s troops leading 2-0.

The second stanza was a different ball game altogether as Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe’s charges came firing from all cylinders.
Dombo almost reduced the deficit but former Matsapha United goalkeeper, Khanyakezwe Shabalala, denied him from close range in the 52nd minute.

Lucky

Nkosiyazi Maphosa, who was lucky to have lasted the entire second half for once, made his presence felt when he unleashed a powerful strike outside the box but Shabalala did well to make a beautiful save for the ‘Bull’ in the 59th minute.
However, Highlanders seemed to have found their rhythm again. In the hour mark, Ndaba almost made it 3-0 but his free kick missed the target by inches.

Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze and Vusumuzi Zungu were also almost on target but Igidimba was superb between the goalposts for the ‘Weslians’ in the hour mark.
Wanderers scored their solitary goal in the 78th minute against the run of play. Mancoba Maseko took defenders on a solo run before firing a stunner which beat Shabalala.
The hub side tried to pile pressure but it was bit too late as Leticia Viana blew the final whistle,  much to the jubilation of the ‘Bull’ fans.
