NGCULWINI – The Ngculwini Christian Challenge has been declared an annual event.

This was announced by the Senior Pastor of the church, Ephraim Dlamini on Saturday after the inaugural edition which was held at Mhubhe Sports Ground. The first edition saw over 500 athletics enthusiasts attend.
“We want to thank all the stakeholders who contributed toward the success of the event. We also want to say that we were overwhelmed by the massive attendance.

“We had runners as far as South Africa, Mbabane, and Manzini and almost all the corners of the Kingdom of Eswatini. This motivated us to host another race next year.In fact, the race will be annual,” Dlamini said.
Meanwhile, the PRO of the event, Sipho Motsa also concurred with the man of God.

“The attendance was impressive and we appreciate the support that we received from people of this area, surrounding communities and countrywide. We are really humbled by the support. We are hoping that next year, it will be bigger and better and precise timing,” Motsa said.
He further said the main objective of the race was to keep a fit and healthy nation.

Meanwhile, Ngculwini Chief Mgebiseni applauded the church for hosting a successful event.
“The church is following in the footsteps of His Majesty King Mswati III on keeping a healthy lifestyle through exercising. Sports can only be the best vehicle to drive the Gospel while keeping fit and healthy at the same time,” the chief said.

The race was divided into three categories, namely the half marathon (21km), 10km and 5km.Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF)’s Melusi Sihlongonyane was the overall winner of the competition.
