REP ...............................28
Correctional .................49

MANZINI – A super goal difference ensured Correctional tightened their grip on the netball league title for a fourth time in a row ahead of rivals Royal Eswatini Police.

As the curtain fell on another eventful Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Netball League season, the two sides met in a pulsating decider at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.

The 49-28 win in yesterday’s pulsating clash saw both sides finishing on 22 points. Having led for almost the entire campaign, REP needed a draw against Correctional to become champions. They were two points clear at the top before the stop at Mavuso following a 32-30 win against their rivals in the reverse fixture, but they got more than they had bargained for against the recharged green and white ensemble.

Inspired by the free-scoring duo of Jabu Khathwane and Vumile Vilakati, Correctional set a tone for a flawless outing, as they led 12-5 after the first quarter.
They took a 25-11 lead to half time. REP, on the other hand, showed signs of rustiness and their trusted skipper Hlengiwe Bhembe had a heavily-bandaged knee.

However, the introduction of the seasoned Ncamisile Dlamini in attack had ensured the pendulum swung in their favour in the third quarter, but it was too late to narrow the gap. The score read 36-22 at the end of the third period before it was widened to 49-28 by the end of proceedings.

Meanwhile, in a bronze medal match, Mbabane Raiders stunned Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force with a 50-40 win to finish third.
The top three got E8 000, E5 000 and E2 500, respectively, on top of trophies and medals.
