DARK CITY ‘GUNN-ED’ DOWN IN BUILD IT U-13S TOURNEY

MBABANE – Gunners are Mbabane Build It Under-13 champs.


Gunners cruised to a 4-3 victory after penalties yesterday in the Build It Under-13 Mbabane branch tournament at Prince of Wales Ground. The team, led by the youngest coach in 17-year-old Sanele Sambo, scored their penalties through Muhle Lukhele, Phathizwe Mkhonta, Sibane Kunene and Sandziso Ngwenya. The game ended goalless in full time. Each game was played in 30 minutes with each half being 15 minutes.


There were eight teams that took part in the tournament which started with a walk from Mbabane Build It store to the Prince of Wales. The teams came from Mbabane, Sigangeni, Mdzimba and Lobamba. Gunners coach Sanele Sambo said they were happy to have won the tournament and they worked hard for it.
“My players did well and I’m happy. I started to coach the team last year and working with young boys is what I enjoy, especially in football,” he said.


Gracing the games were Build It Stores Managing Director Sam Essa, Build It Mbabane Manager Mohamed Ismail, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) CEO Frederick Mngomezulu, EFA Vice President Comfort Shongwe and EFA Technical Director Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta, among others.
The winning team was presented with a soccer kit, Build It branded sports bags, main trophy and individual trophies. Build It also presented all the coaches who led the teams with a soccer ball each.
