MBABANE – Lanky sprinter Phumlile Ndzinisa’s journey in the Africa Senior Athletics Championships has been cut short.

After earning a semi-final spot in the Women 100 metres the previous day, Ndzinisa was back on the synthetic track yesterday in pursuit of a spot in the final, but ranked seventh with a time of 12:10 seconds. The 21st Africa Senior Athletics Championships are taking place in Nigeria.

The country’s fastest lady needed to be in the top three to make the cut or at least be among the two athletes with the best fastest time.

Next to compete yesterday was the duo of sprinters Andile Lusenga and Thandaza Zwane. They were set to feature in round one of the 400 metres in search of a spot in semi-finals, but their time could not be ascertained at the time of compiling this report, as they were yet to compete by late yesterday.
