MBABANE – Athletes stand a chance to win big in prizes in the inaugural Eswatini Fitness Challenge marathon.

Eswatini Fitness Challenge is an initiative by the Peaceful Warrior Foundation, which is a brainchild of Prince Bandzile. On top of encouraging emaSwati to train for at least 50 minutes between July 16 and September 6 this year, the foundation is organising a relay event on the last day of the fitness campaign (Independence Day).

The relay will be 50km long and it is for a team of five. It will be staged at Somhlolo National Stadium. Each team member will run for 10km.
Foundation Vice Chairman William Kelly said outstanding runners on the day will get a share from a E50 000 purse. The full prize breakdown is still to be finalised.

As build-up to the main race, there will be an activation at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano this coming Sunday, starting at 2pm. It will be a fitness event.
“Participants should not forget their training gear,” said Kelly

Meanwhile, the fitness challenge is in line with the country’s 50/50 celebrations.
To take part in the initiative, one has to download the Eswatinifc Application on Google App Store and then register. On registration, a person will be introduced to various exercises.

As each person taking part in the challenge is required to train at least 50 minutes each day, there are options to share the activities carried out on each day on the ‘App’ by clicking the + (add) button.

The completed exercises will be displayed on the Activity Board, which is accessed on clicking the options button. There are also video demonstrations on the ‘App’ for the various exercises on offer.
