MANZINI- Residents are alleged to be against Premier League pint-sized referee Lucky ‘Makalakalane’ Ndlangamandla’s nomination as a Member of Parliament (MP) under the Kwaluseni Inkhundla.

Members of the public in the area have written a letter to the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) citing their concerns over the referee’s nomination over the weekend.

It has been gathered that before the letter, former Kwaluseni Member of Parliament, Sibusiso ‘Mabhanisi’ Dlamini, allegedly raised the same concern on Sunday, in full view of other residents and EBC officials.

He is alleged to have informed scores of people about the fact that Ndlangamandla was allegedly not from the area and by law, he was not supposed to be nominated in the constituency.

On July 30, 2018, a letter was allegedly sent to the EBC stating that the referee was not supposed to be nominated under the Kwaluseni Umphakatsi, as he did not reside there.

“His home is located at or along the Phocweni corridor, which is under Logoba or Mhlane Umphakatsi. He does not reside under Kwaluseni Umphakatsi.
“We therefore, seek your intervention and correct this anomaly as we want free and fair elections for the Kwaluseni Inkhundla,” the letter, which is in of this publication’s possession stated.

The letter further mentioned that the issue had been raised with the Presiding Officer Nokuthula Shongwe, who allegedly promised residents or those concerned that they would report the mater to authorities, as it had been forwarded as a formal complaint.

“Even if he was a tenant, the voting rights are limited to voting only and Ndlangamandla cannot be voted for since he is not a permanent resident.”
“The rules or the law is clear about this issue, people of the area are taking advantage of the vulnerability of the Textile Workers in Matsapha Industrial Sites, where Ndlangamandla is employed as a senior,” the letter also states.
