MBABANE – Runner Sebenele Mkhombe announced his arrival in style at the Mbabane Parkrun.

Mkhombe managed to beat the 73 runners/joggers who participated in the 63rd edition of the weekly parkrun.
Despite being a first timer in the 5km timed run that  is held at Mbabane Club every Saturday at 8am, he set an impressive time of 18:56 minutes, beating the ladies’ record which stands at 20:02 minutes.

This record was set by Swazi Slojos runner, Gugu Mthembu on April 18 this year.
The overall record for the parkrun is 14:56 minutes, set by Eswatini Umbutfo Defence Force athlete, Nkululeko Gama on January 1 this year, but Mkhombe could not tamper with it.

Noteworthy is that the record holders were not part of the race yesterday. Kadin Hillary did not only win in the ladies section but set a new personal record of 30:07 minutes.

Hillary was attending the race for the third time having first participated on April 21 where she finished in 32:58 minutes.
She bettered her time of 37:23 minutes which she ran last weekend.
