MBABANE – It’s a thin lead at the summit but he will be hard to stop.

The renowned pool star, Flag Nxumalo who plies his trade with Correctional Services Pool Club in the Dixie’s Pool League, is six points clear but also two games ahead of close contender Menzi Ngomane. Also, his runner-up last season when he won it, Sifiso Dlamini of Police Academy Pool Club, remains a big threat having played only six games and on six points.

However, Nxumalo is not the losing type given his track record and has only lost once after over seven games in the ongoing first round which is only four games away from the second round. Interestingly, he downed second-placed Ngomane 7-3 last Saturday and also beat Vusi Masilela 7-5.

This weekend, he will face basement player Ndumiso Hlophe and mid table competitor Mandla Maseko in early morning games at the Manzini Pool Club. The games will be played as from today until Monday as it is a long weekend in Eswatini.

“We have so many players lagging behind schedule so we are taking advantage of the long weekend to try and catch up as we will soon be closing the first round,” Masilela explained. He also confirmed Nxumalo was on the lead and this has been the case since his first official game. He is proving a true defending champion after winning with games to spare last season under The George Hotel banner.
