MBABANE – The infighting at hub giants Manzini Wanderers has taken a new twist ahead of this Saturday’s mass meeting at Bosco Skills Centre.

In an unprecedented move, the club’s Council of Elders which has the power to appoint directors of the team on Tuesday reached a decision to suspend its leader, Sipho Ntshalintshali.
He is a long serving chairman of the Council but for once, he will today have to appear before his subordinates to answer on certain issues they have with him.

A statement purportedly from the Council of Elders that was circulating on social media since yesterday morning confirms Ntshalintshali’s suspension.

“Manzini Wanderers chairman of elders Mr. S. Ntshalintshali has been suspended from the team’s activities indefinitely. This step was taken by the Council of Elders of the team yesterday (Tuesday) night in a meeting he had been called to answer some few questions before the Council.

“The meeting is expected to continue on Thursday where Mr. Ntshalintshali is expected to come and show cause before the Council,” reads the statement.

Upon checking with Wanderers’ CEO Pat Mahlalela if he knew anything about the statement, it was discovered he was not aware but made it clear the elders’ structure could take decisions at their level and was confident they had their reasons if indeed this was true. He then referred it to the Council’s Secretary Doctor Simelane.

However, Simelane proved very difficult to find as his cellphone rang unanswered all day whenever an attempt to call him was made. Another elder was recommended but he spoke on condition of anonymity as he made it clear Simelane was the right man tasked to address the media on the issue.
