KOLA AT ‘BIRDS’ TRAINING

MBABANE - He is in indeed flying with the ‘Birds’ – literally and figuratively speaking!

That is Nigeria-born forward Aladeon Kola, who was spotted yesterday at Mbabane Swallows training at Prince of Wales with his agent, Charles Matsebula. The two were seen jumping into the same vehicle with Swallows’ coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati.

When the Times arrived at the Prince of Wales yesterday afternoon, Kola was seen with his agent in a light blue car. An attempt to get an interview with Vilakati was futile as the coach said he was in a rush and could only be reachable on his mobile phone. That was before the car sped away from the scene.

General Manager Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane barred the media from covering the training session.
“We will invite the press when we want to unveil new players. Right now, we are in preseason training and no reporters are allowed to cover our training,” Zwane said before also leaving the scene in another white Toyata Hilux double cab. When called later, Zwane’s phone rang unanswered.

Zwane told security guards to ensure that reporters do not enter or take pictures.
When Vilakati was reached for comment, he declined to comment.
“Look, I cannot comment about that issue right now,” Vilakati said.

The former Green Mamba coach said he can only comment about his preparations for the Charity Cup and CAF Champions League.
“We will use players who are of our disposal.

We are looking forward to the season and we hope to do well just like last season,” he said.
The player’s agent, Matsebula, could not be reached for comment when contacted yesterday.

When the first attempt was made, his phone rang unanswered before it was then switched off. Manzini Wanderers CEO Pat Mahlalela also distanced himself from the Kola issue.
