MBABANE – South Africa’s National First Division newcomers TS Sporting have announced the signing of Mbabane Swallows defender Sanele Mkhweli and striker Sandile Hlatjwako.

The two players are among the 11 new players announced by the Mpumalanga-based team’s publicist Stanley Madonsela on their official Facebook page. The post was accompanied by a group photo of the signees, who were displaying their soccer jerseys with their names branded at the back.

“Welcome our new signings Oscarine Masuluke, Nico Lekhubeni, Perceval Nkabinde, Kgotso Msankane, Mpho Malekane, Happy Dlangamandla, Issac Nana, Bafana Sibeko, Sanele Mkhweli, Sandile Hlatjwako and Mpho Matlowa,” read the posted information in part.

The picture of the players dominated social media sites yesterday.
It could not be immediately ascertained if the players were cleared to the side, as reports suggested that Swallows were fuming over the move.

The duo was part of Swallows’ training session at Prince of Wales Ground yesterday. Team coach Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati confirmed seeing the picture, but referred comments to General Manager Sandile Zwane.

The latter’s phone rang unanswered and it was later switched off. The players politely asked not to be dragged for comment on the issue, referring comments to management. A message was sent to Madonsela on the latest developments, but he was yet to respond by 7:24pm last night.

Meanwhile, Masuluke, who is said to be among the newcomers, shot to fame while at South Africa’s Absa Premiership side Baroka FC. He is the goalkeeper, whose last-gasp wonder goal against Orlando Pirates, was nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award.

TS Sporting were promoted to that country’s football second-tier early this month. They were quoted in the media saying they would survive in the National First Division and the E350 000 monthly grant from the league would come in handy.
