MBABANE – Take it from the horse’s mouth – after all that has been said and done, it is the best thing to do.

The much-talked about South African businessman, Mehluli Nhlengetfwa, who has been reported to be joining Manzini Wanderers as a director for the new season, has come out to clear the air on the issue. He had to, as already a big storm at the hub giants is brewing between supporters and one director Peter Mathaba.

The club’s National Supporters Committee led by Majayivane Dlamini, is clearly for Nhlengetfwa, as they believe he has the financial muscle to elevate the club to a professional side. The NSC did not hide that it wants Mathaba to hand over the leadership so they can have Nhlengetfwa take over.

“I have been made aware that the intention was for me to come in as a sole director and that is where the vision was distorted. In all my years of practise, I have always guarded against positions but rather build structures that will ensure that the vision at hand is achieved.
“I know the question centres around sole directorship or joining the current directors. The answer is none of the above as I have mentioned that I am one who does not run for positions but from a distance I always believe I can still effect change,” Nhlengetfwa said in his detailed statement sent to this newspaper yesterday.

He also explained how he was approached through the ladies’ team management which he transformed together with the management structure he found and asked to replicate the same vision to the senior team. He was approached in June or July last year to assist the ladies team before the senior team recently did so.
In principle, he makes it clear that he agreed to the request by the senior team but was aware of the mammoth task ahead, as there were pertinent issues that needed sober-minded people to deal with to ensure whatever comes out ‘brings unity’.
