MANKAYANE – A lone goal by Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze’s brother, Ncamiso, inspired Times XI to a victory over Total Masters.

This was during the inaugural tournament of the Sphahluka Transport & Street Twitter Social tournament held at Ngwempisi Sports Ground yesterday where Times XI 1-0 victorious. It took Times 35 minutes to break the deadlock through Sibandze.

He received a defence splitting pass from his namesake, Ncamiso Motsa, and the former charged toward Total Masters goalkeeper Sabelo Dlamini and unleashed a low ground shot. The champions received a E5 000 worth soccer kit and a trophy. The runners-up took home a goat and also a trophy while third-placed Deda Gunners were awarded a soccer ball and a trophy.

In the netball category, Deda emerged as the champions after beating Mankayane Government Hospital 31-22 in the finals to win the netball kit and a trophy.
Times captain Mduduzi Malinga said determination saw them winning the trophy.

“It was not easy as our opponents were equally strong but determination and hard work were the detrimental factors that saw us emerging as champions. I would like to thank all the colleagues who contributed and helped us to win the tournament,” Malinga said.
Meanwhile, Times coach Phumlani Dlamini said the team have been together for some time thus it was easy to find a winning combination.

“We try to have friendly games almost every weekend which always keep us fit and ready for any competition. We are happy to win this tournament and we are positive that we will win more tournaments,” Dlamini said.
