MANZINI – Kaizer Chiefs legend and former Malanti Chiefs gaffer Humphrey Mlwane is a preferred candidate for the vacant coaching post at Manzini Sundowns.

Former Sihlangu coach Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga was also linked with the post, but Sundowns, during a supporters meeting and party at Manzini Club yesterday, clarified that Mlwane was their choice.
Team PRO Muzi Matsenjwa, who was speaking on behalf of absent team Chairman Mark Carmichael, distanced the team from reports linking the side with Bulunga.

“We’re 99 per cent complete with our process of bringing Mlwane on board.
“The plan is to have the coach as quickly as possible so that he can be in charge during our preseason,” said Matsenjwa.
Mlwane was on the stands when Sundowns lost 0-2 to Manzini Wanderers in the Bible Society Cup at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday.
He was also previously linked with Mbabane Citizens.

He told this publication recently that he would soon know the team he would coach.
Meanwhile, Matsenjwa further announced that the team could lose their talisman Justice Figuereido following an interest from South Africa.
He stressed that their ‘matured’ players would only be released to play in the Premier Soccer League in the neighbouring country.

This publication reported that Figuereido would leave for assessment at Maritzburg United before the end of the month.
Meanwhile, about 50 supporters were part of the festivities and they were joined by the legends. It was stressed that the retired stars were also most welcome to assist in the running of the team, as well as the supporters, to lessen the burden on sole director Mark Carmichael.
