MBABANE – Sihlangu and Mbabane Swallows veteran winger Wonder ‘Samba-Jive’ Nhleko has challenged his colleagues to win the COSAFA Cup.

Nhleko’s comments come after helping the Anthony Mdluli-led side to a 1-0 win over Kenya on Saturday in their own backyard. ‘Samba-Jive’, as he is widely-known in the soccer circles, scored the winner to set up what can be termed a perfect rehearsal for Sihlangu Semnikati ahead of the Council of the Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) Cup tournament this Saturday. The locals will square up with Lesotho in the quarterfinals of the annual tournament. The tournament, which started yesterday, is held in South Africa. “We had a good game in Kenya and we played well, which gives me the confidence that we can go all the way to win the tournament. We proved we have the potential when we reached the semi-finals in 2016, so it’s high time we win it this year,” Nhleko said.

The former Black Leopard player said it felt great to score the winning goal against Kenya’s Harambee. “I must mention that a good first touch determines your next move as a player. “I managed to control the ball amid the under-pressure inside the box and unleashed a fierce shot. When I saw it kissing the back of the net, I was over the moon. Scoring is always great, whether it’s a friendly or competitive match and I am positive I will score more goals in the Cosafa Cup,” he added. Sihlangu returned on Saturday from Kenya. The players will return to camp at the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Technical Centre today. The team is expected to leave for South Africa on Wednesday.
