MANZINI – Eswatini national side Sihlangu’s win away at Kenya’s ‘Harambee Stars’ have pleased His Majesty King Mswati III.

Sihlangu’s 1-0 win over Kenya on Friday coincided with the Ingwenyama Cup prize giving, and the King was excited on learning about the developments. “The win means we’re in the right direction, as Ingwenyama Cup promotes soccer development,” said the King. Also impressing the King are Mbabane Swallows, who are in the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time. “Our soccer champions tonight, Mbabane Swallows, are a shining example of how improvements in local football can put the country on the world map.

“Their gallant performance at home and at continental level should make us all proud of local football. They have shown us that well managed teams can compete locally and on international platforms, regardless of the size of the country of origin.” Swallows players also shared the stage with the King during the prize giving ceremony, as they officially got their trophy and E1.2 million cheque.
