MANZINI – Board Chairman of the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident (MVAF) Fund Zweli Jele has noted that the organization’s corporate image has benefitted immensely from the Ingwenyama Cup.

Jele spoke during the prize presentation for the 2018 tournament at Mavuso Sports and Exhibition Centre on Friday night. He said they had used football to communicate the message of road safety to good effect. “We have been surprised at how this approach was received by the public. Without incorporating culture and sport it would have been impossible to reach out to the number of people that we have been able to reach out to,” said Jele. He also pointed to the broadcast of the finals on South Africa’s digital television station SuperSport as a ground breaking undertaking. He said through SuperSport’s broadcast they reached people in 34 African countries. “This was the ideal platform to promote sports and culture in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

“We are known the world over for the beauty of the Kingdom and our cultural norms. Broadcasting to the whole of Africa presented us with a chance to further enhance the country’s reputation,” he said. Jele emphasised that the MVA was proud to be part of such a momentous occasion as the Ingwenyama Cup. He thanked the King for being a good visionary and congratulated Mbabane Swallows for having won all editions of the competition.  He said their success in African competitions was evidence that the standard of football in the country had grown. “Swallows have demonstrated that greatness for the Swazi nation is within grasp,” he said. Meanwhile, Ingwenyama Cup Committees Chairman Prince Hlangabeza was full of praise for SMVAF. He also celebrated the huge attendance at stadia during all editions.
