DURBAN PARKRUNNERS GET ROUSING APPLAUSE

MBABANE – Local athletes who represented the Mbabane Parkrun in the North Beach Parkrun in Durban last weekend received a rousing applause.

This was before the start of the 55th edition of the weekly 5km timed run/jog which was held at the Mbabane Club yesterday. Introducing the six runners, one of the parkrun organisers Sebbie Du Pont said they were proud to report that the country was well represented in South Africa. The Durban race saw the local athletes get a podium finish. Representing the Mbabane Parkrun was Umbufto Swaziland Defence Force’s (USDF) Nkululeko Gama who finished the race in 15:08 minutes, the trio of Swazi Slojos in Sifiso Ngcobo, Siyabonga Sihlongonyane and Gugu Mthembu.Others were Mduduzi Dlamini and Sierra Du Pont and the team was led by Sebbie.

“Our runner, Nkululeko Gama managed to win the race and we are happy that our lady runner also scooped the second position in the ladies’ category. They all performed exceptional as the others also completed the 5km inside the top five bracket,” Du Pont said to a huge round of applause from the parkrunners. The 55th edition attracted visitors from Mhlanga and North Beach Parkruns who are based in Durban.
