MBABANE – Giants Mbabane Swallows will be lucky to tighten their grip on gifted attacking midfielder Felix Badenhorst in the next month.

Three South African teams have shown strong interest in the lanky national team, Sihlangu forward. Recently-crowned Nedbank champions Free State Stars, Baroka FC and National First Division champions Highlands Park are all linked with the former Swazi international. The three teams, according to a source to the player, will monitor the latter during the COSAFA Cup in South Africa next month. Sihlangu will face Lesotho in the quarter-finals on June 3.
“If he does well in the COSAFA Cup, he will be just be signed without attending trials,”

The player steered his team to the top of the top of the charts in the CAF Champions League last Tuesday after scoring the all-important goal against visiting Angola’s Desportivo at Mavuso Sports Centre. Team General Manager Sandile Zwane said the team’s players were attracting interest from a lot of teams from across the continent following the red and white ensemble’s resurgence in Africa, but said there was no finalised deal at this stage. “We’re aware of interest from different teams, but we can only announce to the media once there is something concrete,” he said. The Sihlangu midfielder is not the first Swallows player to be linked with Baroka. Full-back Sanele Mkhweli was monitored in the past week.   He reportedly met the Baroka officials in the past week. The player’s phone rang unanswered when sought for comment.
