MBABANE – The axing of Unik Pool Club from the Dixie’s Pool League has come with a heavy price for long time leaders Way Inn.

While Unik is no more in this league, Way Inn who had been sailing at the summit lost their lead after a decision by the tournament’s Management Committee (MC) to dock all points from teams that had benefitted from Unik.

Way Inn was docked the highest as four points were deducted while three other clubs, current leaders Garrison, Correctional and Bhunya all suffered a point loss.

However, Garrison found themselves at the top after the four-point forfeiture by Way Inn.
The two sides are now tied on 26 points after the first round games.

Challenges

“We took off everything that touches Unik as they have been having some challenges and were no longer honouring their fixtures so we felt they should be struck off for this season,” confirmed Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA) Secretary Mbongeni Gamedze.
Meanwhile, Garrison’s lead was boosted by their bonus-point win of 19-6 against Figaredo Five which gave them four points instead of three.

Way Inn also managed to win the Malkerns derby against Nick’s.
Way Inn edged them 14-11.
Worth noting is that basement side and Police Academy Knockout champions Correctional came close to recording their second league win in nine games but narrowly lost 13-12 to Bhunya.
These games were played last Saturday.
