MANZINI – A traditional healer of foreign origin, alleged to be attached to one of the reputable soccer teams in the country, was allegedly kidnapped and severely assaulted for hours on Sunday.

Information gathered is that the inyanga was attacked by four unknown men while at his homestead, situated in the outskirts of Ngwane Park.

The popular traditional healer was allegedly grabbed and dragged out of his house and later bundled into a Mazda sedan, before he was taken to a forest near Gundvwini where he was tied to a tree and thoroughly assaulted with open hands, kicks and fists by the suspects.
The incident is alleged to have occurred at about 3pm, while the SwaziBank Cup final between Young Buffaloes and Manzini Wanderers was ongoing.

Well-placed sources revealed that before the incident, the man, *Kwaku, a foreigner, was first contacted by well-known soccer officials on Saturday while at his homestead requesting a favour, in the form of muti.

However, he allegedly turned them down and further informed them that he had already performed rituals for another reputable team.
“Ay mani sinike le game baba,’ – loosely translated, ‘Come on, make us winners of the soccer match,” the officials allegedly said.
After they had allegedly begged Kwaku many times and realised that he was indeed refusing and turning their huge money offers down, the people stopped calling him on the day.

It is alleged that Kwaku even went to the extent of informing the officials the name of the team he was working with and which had already ‘won’ the game, something which allegedly infuriated them.
On Sunday afternoon, the same people allegedly contacted Kwaku again, this time demanding that he come out of his house so they could talk.

This they said because they were aware that Kwaku always locked himself inside the house and was barely seen outside.
The suspects allegedly continued calling him and alleged they were outside his home. A while later, Kwaku was attacked while inside his house. Allegations are that he had forgotten to lock the door this time around.
