MBABANE – Somhlolo National Stadium is not a safe venue to host a soccer match.

This is according to the Confederations of African Football (CAF) report from the inspection team that visited the country last month, to inspect the venues where Mbabane Swallows will host their games in the CAF Champions League.

CAF inspectors visited the match venues of the qualified clubs of the Total CAF Champions League, to ensure that the facilities met the minimum CAF standards.
As a result of the latest inspection, Mbabane Swallows’ second match of the CAF Champions League was moved to the Mavuso Sports Centre on May 15.

‘The Birds’, who left the country yesterday for Zambia to play Zesco United in their opening match in Group D, will face Club Desportive 1 de Agosto of Angola on May 15 at the Mavuso Sports Centre.

The 7 500 seater Somhlolo National Stadium will on Sunday host the 2018 Uyayifuna Na? SwaziBank Cup finals, where hub giants Manzini Wanderers will face Young Buffaloes. A source close to the matter confirmed yesterday, that the stadium was declared a health hazard due to the dressing rooms and poor floodlights, among other things.
